Where Can I Meet Milena Velba

bus bike Bethesda

Capital Crescent Trail

Washington Monument

Bethesda is a suburb on the edge of Washington DC. The Washington Metro comes to Bethesda, and better yet, you can go by bike to the capital itself. There is an abandoned railway line that has been refurbished as a track bike, and in Bethesda it is a bike shop with rentals. The price is quite expensive, $ 35 for a day. To give some perspective, you can rent a car for less. But I was excited to bike to Washington, and so in my first Sunday I rented a journey.

The runway is paved, and is very popular. Abound not only cyclists but also pedestrians walking and running, skating, and even saw one who seemed to be skating and skiing with ski poles. What there is vehicle traction motor or animal (other than human, that is).

The site runs along between forests. It is surprising that it can reach almost the center of Washington not just see a house and car without bearing noise. The track, downhill, reaches a river, the Potomac, a river wide and quiet, no motor boats (how different from Sydney!) And with a lot of people canoeing. We, more than the capital of the world's most powerful country where decisions are made globally this seems a place of rest and vacation.

And so, without my noticing it, I finish the track in Georgetown, a village adjacent to Washington. I thence after getting lost in the streets with traffic, I decided to circulate through the park along the river. " And in one of these I find a building that looks like a Roman temple. Lincoln is the mausoleum in the heart of Washington DC. Tourists suddenly appear everywhere, and I get to the mausoleum in front of me, the main avenue. The scene reminds me of a scene from the movie "Forest Gump", because before me I see the pond, past a giant obelisk is the Washington monument (the first U.S. president), and the background the Capitol where they are taken all decisions. What is missing is people in the film as the avenue was packed, but now almost empty. Not that no people, on the contrary, there are many people but it is very tiny, dwarfed by the scale of the avenue and the obelisk. And is that the avenue is so wide that it will require hundreds of thousands of people to fill it.

Well, I'm still with the bike, without stopping to visit the monuments (which has no bike lock!), Crossing the great avenue, and seeing buses, tourists on foot, bike and Segway, but the street is so great that I turn around before reaching the Capitol, the temperatures climb and there are no trees to protect me from the sun. I back the White House (it will be the president?), And a Segway tour group. Hey, that's sounds interesting segway. The segwayeros, sure to have just learn to use it, move without any apparent effort, without stumbling at the lack of experience ... As I pointed to one of these tours.

The heat is crowded with what I return to the track back to Bethesda. Already in the shade enjoying the return trip uphill now but just not noticed. Again the canoes on the river, walkers, people running, cycling and skating, all enjoying a sunny day in late August.

From experience I decide I have to get a bike as is. But I find that bike shops do not sell cheap, and the second hand market is pretty weak. Looking here and there, looking on websites, visiting stores, meeting end bikes rather cheap, and I just bought one for about $ 150 including shipping to your home. I do not know if I can sell, but surely the cost is going to pay off, I have nothing to do about five bike getaways ... and I have the lock.
